What is DMI?
Dynamic Movement Intervention is a therapeutic technique used by appropriately trained pediatric therapists to work on postural control, balance, strength and functional movement.
Does my child need a diagnosis?
A diagnosis alone does not determine appropriateness. Each child is considered individually by a qualified clinician.
How do I know if my child is appropriate for DMI?
Our clinical team reviews your inquiry and, when appropriate, evaluates your child to determine fit.
Do you accept insurance?
Insurance and payment information will be published once policies are finalized. Contact us for the most current information.
Do you offer private-pay services?
Details will be confirmed as we finalize operations.
What ages do you treat?
Ages served are determined individually based on clinical fit.
Can my child continue their regular PT/OT?
Often yes. Many children receive DMI alongside their existing therapies.
Do I need a referral?
Referral requirements will be confirmed at intake.
How long are sessions?
Session length is individualized and shared as part of your child's plan.
What should my child wear?
Comfortable clothing they can move in — plus any orthotics or equipment they use.
Can parents observe?
Yes. Family involvement is central to how we work.
What if my child is sick?
Please contact us to reschedule. We'll share full policies at scheduling.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancel more than 24 hours before your appointment and nothing is owed. Cancel less than 24 hours before your appointment for any reason other than illness or hospitalization and you'll be charged 50% of the canceled session(s), including the Therapy Aide fee. If your child is sick or hospitalized inside 24 hours, the fee is waived when you provide a doctor's note. Every family saves a card on file (secured by Stripe — we never see your card number) and signs the cancellation agreement on the Contact page. You'll always receive an email before any charge. See the full policy at /cancellation-policy.
Do you offer intensive therapy?
Intensive programs are part of our future vision. Join our interest list to be notified.
Do families travel to Smile Therapy?
We welcome families from across New Jersey and neighboring states. Travel information will be published as programs formalize.
Are your therapists licensed?
Yes. Clinical care is provided by appropriately licensed professionals within their scope.
How are therapists trained in DMI?
Through the DMI training pathway and ongoing mentorship. Individual training levels will be listed on each therapist's profile.
Do you guarantee results?
No responsible therapy provider can guarantee results. We celebrate meaningful, individualized progress.
